Calculation of the Density of a Gas

by Vasudev Chari

Using the ideal gas law, we can calculate the density of the gas. The details of input required and calculation is given with an example.

Gas Molecular weight = MWair

Gas Temperature = T (degree Centigrade)

Gauze pressure of the Gas = P (KN/m3)

Ideal gas law constant = R (8.3145 Kn-m/kg mole oK)

The calculations are done to find out  absolute gas pressure

Absolute gas pressure =

Gas temperature in kelvin

Gas density D (kg/m3) =

Example:

MWair = 29

T = 30oC

P = 1 KN/m3

R = 8.3145 Kn-m/kg mole oK

The calculations are done to find out
